The Indiana University School of Library and Information Science was ranked 7th in the country in the most recent study by U.S. News and World Report.
SLIS Dean Debora Shaw said:
"We are proud that SLIS continues to be among the top ten programs and pleased that our specializations in Digital Librarianship, Information Systems, and School Library Media were also highly ranked. SLIS faculty are committed to helping students gain the knowledge and skills they will need in this rapidly changing profession. Faculty conduct research and teach in areas ranging from Semantic Web, to Strategic Intelligence, to Intellectual Freedom. Their knowledge and enthusiasm provide the support essential for our excellent programs.
Prospective students frequently mention SLIS’s national ranking in their applications. As I work with our students, they say that although they may come for the ranking, they stay for the opportunities the school offers. Learning from SLIS faculty, collaborating with their fellow students and becoming part of the alumni network bring to life the possibilities that the rankings imply."
